Vozes e computadores: gerações de narradores, exemplos indígenas na Amazônia
Resumo: O artigo pretende dar uma idéia da riqueza das narrativas orais de mais de uma dezena de povos indígenas da Amazônia, entre os quais a autora faz pesquisas e projetos de intervenção social desde 1978 até os dias atuais. Mais de quarenta pajés e outros tantos narradores dos povos Suruí Paiter, Cinta Larga, Tupari, Macurap, Aruá, Ajuru, Gavião-Ikolen, Zoró, Kampé, Arikapu, Asurini do Trocará, Djeoromiti e outros registraram para a autora em suas línguas, ao longo dos anos, mitos, histórias de vida e relatos sobre a vida depois da morte e a criação do mundo. Traduções foram gravadas em português pela autora, e o material, em processo de digitalização, está sendo devolvido aos índios. Ao dirigir na ONG IAMÁ Instituto de Antropologia e Meio Ambiente, de 1987 a 1997, um projeto de formação de professores, e em seguida ao colaborar com projetos educacionais variados, a autora conseguiu dar continuidade ao trabalho. Publicou sete livros de mitos indígenas em co-autoria com narradores indígenas, em português, mas atualmente vários povos estão reutilizando esse material e elaborando livros bilíngües e CDs, em projetos feitos por organizações indígenas. Abaixo são dados exemplos dos mitos e de sua originalidade, explicitando o método de trabalho.
Abstract: Abstract: This article tries to outline the richness of the oral tradition of more than ten different indigenous tribes throughout the Amazon region, among which the author has been researching and working in social projects from 1978 until the present day. Over forty shamans and other narrators belonging to the Suruí Paiter, Cinta Larga, Tupari, Macurap, Aruá, Ajuru, Gavião-Ikolen, Zoró, Kampé, Arikapu, Asurini do Trocará, Djeoromiti and other tribes have, throughout these years, recorded myths and histories dealing with all aspects of life, afterlife, and the creation of the world. After being translated into Portuguese by the author, the recorded and digitalized material was given back to the indigenous peoples. The author has given continuity to her work by heading a teacher training program carried out by t e IAMÁ (Institute for Anthropology and Environment) from 1987 till 1997, and by collaborating with several other educational projects. She has published seven books of indigenous tales in Portuguese, in co-authorship with native narrators. Currently some of the tribes are using the material to work on bilingual books and CDs, supported in their work by indigenous organizations. The article gives examples of myths and their origins, elaborating the underlying methodology.
* Betty Mindlin é doutora em antropologia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, autora, entre outros livros, de Diários da floresta (São Paulo: Terceiro Nome, 2006). Trabalha com mitos e tradições indígenas de muitos povos, com escrita, educação e formação de professores indígenas, defesa dos direitos e terras indígenas. Atualmente está ligada ao Projeto Amazônia do Instituto de Estudos Avançados da Universidade de São Paulo.
