Jorge Schiavon (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas CIDE, México) will give a presentation of the central findings of the 2008 Mexico, the Americas and the World biennial survey, which is designed to measure opinions, attitudes, perceptions and values regarding international affairs and the country´s foreign policy. The survey is a representative sample of the adult population in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru; in the Mexican
case, a sample of leaders related to international affairs was also surveyed. Because of its exclusive focus on analyzing social attitudes on international issues, its comprehensive approach covering a wide range of subjects (cultural, economic, political, social and security) and its collection of data on general attitudes about the world rather than on opinions regarding current events, this survey is unique in Latin America.
