Straussfeld, Michi (* 1945)
German translator and literary scholar Michi Strausfeld headed the Spanish-Latin American publishing program at Suhrkamp Verlag from 1974 to 2008 and later also worked for S. Fischer Verlag. Through her work as an editor, translator, and mediator, she played a key role in the heyday of Spanish and Latin American literature in Europe. Thanks to her efforts, numerous writers from the Spanish-speaking cultural sphere became known in Germany, including Isabel Allende, Adolfo Bioy Casares, Alejo Carpentier, Julio Cortázar, José Miguel Oviedo, and Manuel Puig.
