Poster Collection
The Poster Collection of the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (IAI) comprises 5,830 posters and billboards. Its broad thematic spectrum ranges from bullfighting in Spain, to the Olympic Games in Mexico and elections in Nicaragua, to the protest movement in Chile in 2019.
Health campaigns posters from Brazil
The 50 posters were created between 1930 and 1950 during the presidency of Getúlio Dornelles Vargas (1882-1954). They were intended to alert the population to the dangers of infectious diseases, but also to promote a healthy diet, dental hygiene and the importance of breast milk.
Movie posters from Mexico
The years 1936 to 1969 are also known as the “golden age of Mexican cinema,” as this period saw a boom in the Mexican film industry. The Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (IAI) has 60 large-format posters from the period 1946-1950, which advertise Mexican films in very expressive colors.
