The event was part of a School for Local Political Leadership for Women EU-LAC 2025, which took place from November 18 to 26, 2025. The aim of this learning platform is to strengthen the political leadership skills of women at the local level (municipalities and communities) in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. This is to be achieved through an cross-generational, bi-regional, intercultural and multiscalar educational space that promotes transformative political participation at the local level, the establishment of networks among female leaders in communities, access to practical tools for local administration and the sustainability of female leadership in local governments and decision-making bodies.
The event at the IAI was attended by approximately 30 women from Germany and numerous Latin American countries and the Caribbean who are involved in political, community or social processes at local or municipal level.
The EU-LAC Foundation is an international organization created in 2010 by the Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which is composed of 61 members: the 33 Latin American and Caribbean States and the 27 Member States of the European Union and the EU itself.
