Puka Wali means "red pollera" in Quechua , a garment worn mainly by indigenous women in the Andean region. The pollera is part of everyday life and in this context it symbolizes the hopes and life in the Andes as well as the joy of singing together. On this evening, it also stands for the coming together of three artists who are firmly rooted in the Andean region: Consuelo Jerí, a Quechua-speaking singer from Peru; Lucie Delahaye, a French guitarist and singer based in Argentina; and Carole Stöcklin, a cultural manager from Belgium who plays quena and charango . In a program of their own compositions and adaptations of popular Latin American pieces, they pay tribute in particular to Latin American female composers and present the musical cultures of the Andean region.
