The IAI as a guest at the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Biennale

The motto of this year’s edition of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Biennale is “Paradise lost? – On the threat to nature” (13.2. – 1.3.2025). As part of this festival, there are numerous events taking place both in the Philharmonie and at and in cooperation with the neighboring institutions at the Kulturforum.

The Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut’s contribution consisted of a late-night concert on 15.2.2024, which took place in the church of St. Matthäus (external link, opens in a new window). The result of this successful cooperation between the three institutions at the Kulturforum was a rousing Latin jazz concert that was a great success with the audience.

The program was performed by Lucas Dorado (vibraphone), Mathilde Vendramin (cello and vocals), Carolina Riaño (vocals) and Laura Robles (percussion). It consisted largely of Lucas Dorado’s own compositions, which explored the sounds and rhythms of the cultural – but also natural – landscapes of South America. And which are inspired by the nature there, such as the rustling of the jacaranda tree, to which one of the songs was dedicated.
