IAI Strengthens Its Voice in Global Library Discourse

Dr. Müller was elected in his capacity as a member of the Executive Board of the Verein Deutscher Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare (VDB) with responsibility for international affairs. The German IFLA National Committee (external link, opens in a new window) coordinates Germany’s participation in IFLA’s specialist sections, consolidates expertise from research and professional practice, and contributes to increasing the visibility of key library-related issues in global exchange.

As a result, the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut´s (IAI) engagement in international networks—particularly in the areas of scholarly information infrastructure, digital transformation, and cooperation with partner institutions worldwide—gains an additional voice in international library policy discourse. Müller’s many years of experience in international library work, together with his established profile in European and global committees, will now play an even greater role in shaping Germany’s participation in IFLA.

Moreover, the international embeddedness of the IAI Library is especially evident in its long-standing cooperation with partner institutions in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal. The networks developed in these regions enable close professional exchange and support the integration of library developments and needs from diverse scholarly and cultural contexts into German and European discussions. In this way, the IAI strengthens its role as a bridge institution and as an active actor within global information and knowledge networks.
