Merk, Stephan (* 1954)

German journalist Stephan Merk has been researching unlocated Mayan ruins on the Yucatan Peninsula since 1978; his records on the subject form his preliminary legacy at the IAI. Merk has been living in Merida, Mexico, since 2016. He has published a series of several volumes on the architecture of the Puuc region and, together with his wife Alma Durán-Merk, a biography of the researcher Teobert Maler, a specialist in Mayan culture.
