Annemarie Heinrich was an important Argentine photographer of German origin. Her family moved to Argentina in 1926 for economic and political reasons, where she opened her first photo studio at the age of 19. In Buenos Aires, Heinrich specialized in portrait photography as well as dance, fashion, and nude photography. She became particularly well known for her photos of Argentine film, theater, and entertainment stars, including Eva Perón, Mirtha Legrand, and Mercedes Sosa. Her works have been shown in numerous international exhibitions. Heinrich was celebrated as one of the great photographers of Argentine show business and left behind an important photographic oeuvre that includes not only celebrity portraits but also impressive documents of cultural life in Buenos Aires. In 1992, she was named an honorary citizen of Buenos Aires.
