The documentary explores the unique relationship with nature of Dominican conservation photographer Eladio Fernandez. Obsessed in his quest to investigate and save nature, Fernandez takes us on a tour of the Dominican Republic’s most important humpback whale breeding grounds, documents the conservation of critically endangered hawksbills, and the rediscovery of a lost magnolia in Haiti. El naturalista isleño is composed of four stories that accompany the work of this photographer internationally recognized for his contribution to the conservation and visual documentation of Caribbean biodiversity.
