Prussian Cultural Heritage
The Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) is one of the world's largest cultural institutions. It consists of sixteen state museums, the Staatsbibliothek (Berlin State Library), the Geheimes Staatsarchiv (Secret State Archive), the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Ibero-American Institute) and the Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung (State Institute for Music Research). The German federal government and all sixteen states (Länder) provide legal and financial support for the foundation, making it a symbol of the responsibility assumed for culture by all levels of government in Germany.
