Film Collection

The film collection consists of around 1.200 videos and 2.500 DVDs. It also includes approx. 1,000 recordings of TV documentaries on Latin America and Spain (1980-1992), as well as feature films from Latin America, Spain and Portugal (mostly in the original language). Since 2000 acquisition efforts have focused on documentaries, feature films, film adaptations of books and interviews. In 2006 the Förderkreis des Ibero-Amerikanischen Instituts e.V. (Friends of the Ibero-American Institute) began supporting the collection by purchasing important films from Latin America.
The television recordings are listed in a card catalog in the audio library. They have been indexed both alphabetically and by person, author and subject. Acquisitions made 1999 or later are indexed in the online catalog and can be researched in combination with the keyword "Bildtonträger" (audiovisual media).

Regulations

For copyright reasons, you may not borrow television recordings, but you may view them in a private screening by prior arrangement. Commercial videos and DVDs may be borrowed for two weeks.
