Newspaper clippings collection

Between 1930 and 1999 the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) collected over 350,000 newspaper clippings on Latin America, Spain and Portugal from German and European press publications. The articles have been categorized by country and subject and indexed chronologically within each individual subject area.

Other collections:

Collection featuring reviews of translations of Pablo Neruda’s writings

Pablo Neruda (1904-1973) was a Chilean poet and author who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. Neruda supported Salvador Allende when he ran for presidency in 1970. In 2012 the Luchterhand-Verlag (Munich) donated six ring-binders to the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) containing reviews (and accompanying materials on radio and TV programs) of the publishing house’s translations of Neruda’s works into German. The collection dates from 1968 to 2009.

Walter Krause Collection

In 2011 Walter Krause donated 14 ring-binders containing approx. 5,000 paper clippings on the topic of space travel to the Ibero-American Institute (IAI). They date from 1956 to 2010 and were taken mainly from Argentinian (La Prensa, La Nación, Clarín) and German (Main-Echo, Badische Neueste Nachrichten, Rhein-Zeitung) newspapers.

Newspaper clippings archive compiled by the German Institute of Contemporary History and the Institute for International Politics and Economics

Between 1966 and 1990, two organizations from the former GDR – the Deutsches Institut für Zeitgeschichte (German Institute of Contemporary History) and the Institut für Internationale Politik und Wirtschaft (Institute for International Politics and Economics) – collected articles on Latin America and the Caribbean from European newspapers. The collection focuses on politics and economics, particularly in Chile, Cuba and Nicaragua, and contains around 76,250 newspaper clippings.
