Why are we interested in Latin America? Why is it important to deal with Latin America and knowledge production from Latin America? How is the region perceived from the outside? What role does it play in international and global issues? These topics will be the focus of the ADLAF Conference 2024 organized by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Lateinamerikaforschung (German Association for Latin American Research). We will also look at how regional research on Latin America is organized in Germany, which fields of research are particularly important, how the relationship between disciplinary and transdisciplinary research has developed and what role the funding organizations play.
