Lost languages of the Peruvian North Coast
Matthias Urban
Vortrag
Peru’s North Coast is one of the hotspots of cultural development in the ancient Central Andes. In his talk, Dr. Matthias Urban (Universität Tübingen) presents an overview of recent research activities on the former linguistic diversity in this region and shows how a better understanding of the structures and histories of the languages can contribute to new perspectives on the prehistoric cultural trajectory of the region.
Dr. Matthias Urban is specialized on the historical linguistics of the Americas, in particular the Central Andes. Currently, he directs a Junior Research Group on the language history of the Central Andes at the University of Tübingen, Germany.
