Latin American Art History: An Historiographic Turn

Reading Session

This essay by Andrea Giunta and George F. Flaherty analyses the history of Latin American avant-garde and neo-vanguard art from a comparative perspective, focusing on topics such as transnational exchanges among artists and collectives, and the impact of political and economic change.

The symposium on conceptual art from Latin America "Rethinking Conceptualism: Avant-Garde, Activism and Politics in Latin American Art (1960s-1980s)" has been postponed and will take place from 25 to 26 March 2021 at Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut.

Before this meeting, Katerina Valdivia Bruch, artistic director and curator of the project, has started an online programme with workshops and monthly reading sessions.
