Newspaper Clippings Archive

The Ibero-American Institute (IAI) began this collection when it was founded in 1930, clipping articles from the German and European press. Around 350,000 clippings are currently available on Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The articles are cataloged by subject criteria in the country group system and chronologically in the subject index. There is no catalog, and the IAI stopped adding new clippings in 1999.
The materials include part of the newspaper clippings collections of two former East German organizations: the Institut für Internationale Politik und Wirtschaft (Institute for International Politics and Economics) and the Deutsches Institut für Zeitgeschichte (German Institute of Contemporary History). This independent archive consists of approximately 76,000 international newspaper clippings on Latin America with a special focus on Cuba, Nicaragua, Chile and Argentina.
