Xingú expedition 1887
The image archive, which was started in 1973, contains photographs and slides of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The Ibero-American Institute (IAI) currently holds around 34.000 slides and 60,000 photographs, including images by Emilio Biel, Hugo Brehme, Marc Ferrez, Jean Laurent, Guillermo Kahlo, Sumner W. Matteson, C.B. Waite and Max T. Vargas.
The slides are fully indexed by person and subject (e.g. country, place, topic) in a card catalog.
