The Magic Labyrinth
The collection encompasses a wide variety of audio media from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal. Ranging from shellac records to CDs, the items include recordings by writers and politicians, audio books, natural sounds, ethnographic materials, language courses and music from numerous genres (e.g. art music, tango, salsa, merengue, samba, ska, calypso, son, fado, flamenco, pop, rock, mariachi, vallenato, valses, corridos, Latin jazz, reggae and children's songs).
The audio library currently contains approx. 20.555 long-playing records, 2.100 singles, 1.600 shellac records, 11.800 CDs, 1.650 cassettes and 1.600 audio tapes.
The holdings can be researched in the library's online catalog in combination with the keyword "Tonträger" (audio media). The Egon Ludwig collection, acquired in 2008, can currently only be researched in the inventory lists.
