Special Collections
The Special Collections serve as an interface between the institute's library, research activities and event management program. Library-related and archival work is necessary to make the holdings accessible for research. The preparation and preservation of audio, visual and film material, in particular, requires substantial technical effort. These unique documents provide a foundation for research, publication and exhibition projects and enable users to learn about the Ibero-American region from diverse perspectives. The Special Collections make a unique contribution to preserving cultural heritage.
Due to the different types of material and their condition, the holdings are subject to special regulations and use is often restricted. Some holdings have not been indexed in the online catalog and must be researched in special catalogs or inventory lists.
From August 2011 there will only be limited access to the Special Collections due to extensive construction work. Please click here for further details.
