Papers & Manuscripts
The Papers & Manuscripts collection of the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) consists of approximately 385 different-sized boxes of material. These contain manuscripts, letters, postcards, telegrams, diaries, notebooks, invoices, letters of reference, photographs, archaeological plans, personal objects and so on. The materials mainly belonged to German explorers and scholars of Latin America. Most of the papers were acquired in the institute's founding phase. Thanks to the generous support of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation), the IAI was recently able to acquire the papers of Argentine writer Roberto Arlt and German botanist August Weberbauer.
